These are cartoons based on real cats, all of whom are good friends and great company to the people that they live with. As you can see on the home page, they all have their own character and temperment, and I've done my best to capture that in the simplest terms possible with my drawings. How did you start drawing Jubilex and Friends? A couple of years ago I got ill, really ill, and while I was stuck in bed two awesome little cats really kept my spirits up; climbing onto me when I'd get sad, or making me play when I got stuck. Their unquestioning presence at that time was so helpful that as I returned to health and slowly got back to the job of running my graphic design firm, I found that I wanted to commemorate them somehow. Every year I make myself a calendar, and so I did one that used a simplistic, childrens-book style and drew a cartoon of Jubilex. As the months went on, I needed other models, and so friends sent me photos and descriptions of their cats to use for the rest of my year. Later, I wanted to put the cartoons on to other things, so that I could wear the cats, and always remember that even when things seem a little bleak; Jubilex loves you! That's how Jubilex and Friends began. Are you a crazy cat lady? Not as far as I know. I don't even own a cat, I just do a sort of kindly aunt thing, where I cat-sit for a friend once in a while. Actually I like drawing all kinds of things, it's just that these are the funniest at the moment.
